Nurture in Nature
Resting on the shores of Lettes Bay, Tasmania, Bushy Summers is a part of a close-knit community of neighbouring, historic miner shacks. It is the most private shack in the bay and a simple and cosy space with stunning views to help you unwind and feel inspired. Disconnect from the hustle and bustle of normal life and reconnect to self in nature.
We love sharing this truly magical place, the perfect retreat for one to two people.

Our Story
On a trip to Tasmania, Matthew Usmar Lauder and I fell in love with the Wild West Coast and when we found an old shack in Lettes Bay in need of some love, it led to a new chapter in our lives.
We named the shack Bushy Summers because of the moniker of a previous owner, who was known locally as “a bit of character”. Taking the shack back to its bare bones, Matthew spent five months bringing it back to life while I concentrated on making it beautiful. We used many recycled and preloved items and filled the shack with beautiful treasures from local, Tassie businesses.
Feel inspired…
Your day will gently unfold as you wake up to the sound of birdsong or the quack of the resident ducks as they wander up and down the bay and
close-knit community of neighbouring, historic miner shacks is what makes Lettes Bay so special.
Completely relax as you curl up with a pot of tea and book in the comfy double bed, or soak in the luxurious cast iron claw foot bath and glimpse the gum tree tops. Cook your favourite meal in our simple, little kitchen or take a long stroll along the shoreline and explore nature. Sit out on the deck with a glass of Tasmanian wine, listen to the Bushy Summers Spotify playlist, read, write, paint, make... feel inspired.
“The most adorable, well thought out Airbnb I have ever stayed in. I would 1000% recommend Bushy Summers to anyone heading to Strahan!”

“Bushy Summers is a beautiful hidden gem. Every aspect of the property has been thought through so well. Claire’s accommodation is warm and cosy and provides all the creature comforts. The regular visits from the ducks made the stay even better. We had a fantastic, relaxing weekend!”

“One of the most special places we’ve ever stayed! The shack is so cosy and beautiful - we quickly fell in love with it and its location. Highlights were the incredible view from the window, morning and evening greetings from the ducks, and all the little details and special touches that made our stay relaxing and peaceful. We hope to return soon.”

Around Strahan
Ocean Beach
Ocean Beach is a short drive from Bushy Summers. The beach stretches for miles and brilliantly captures how wild, rugged and remote Tasmania’s West Coast truly is.
Hogarth Falls
Take a lovely walk from the shack to Hogarth Falls (also walking distance from Strahan Village). The track lines a botanical creek home to native wildlife and leads to a spectacular waterfall.
Harbour Cruise
Gordon River Cruises offers fabulous tours of the bay and Macquarie Harbour and is a great way to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Wilderness Railway
A steam railway like no other, West Coast Wilderness Railway operates full and half-day steam train journeys along a historic 35km track between Queenstown and Strahan.
The Coffee Shack
Our favourite breakfast spot serving the best coffee in Strahan. Don’t forget to pick up one of their delicious homemade treats.
